These boundaries are continually modified and updated if more accurate survey or boundary information is submitted to Monroe County Real Property Services or if municipalites exchange or annex land. This layer is also used by Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES) to create the \"BASE_Towns_Villages\" and \"BASE_Towns_Villages_Line\" feature classes, which are critical datasets used in nearly every basemap created by DES.",
